Logan County Man Dies in Truck-Train Accident

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe coal train and a truck-trailer collided at a crossing in Peetz on Jan. 10, resulting in the death of a Logan County, Colo., man.
A Logan County, Colo., man died and the train conductor and engineer were transported to Sterling Regional Medical Center Friday when a train and truck-trailer collided near Peetz.
According to Colorado State Patrol Public Information Officer Trooper Josh Lewis, authorities were contacted about 5:05 p.m. Friday of the collision. Trooper Lewis said the truck, a 2020 Freightliner driver by David McKnight, 43, of Peetz, was westbound on Logan County Road 74 approaching the railroad crossing.
