Celebrate Community with 'A Night Out In Gurley'

'A Night Out in Gurley' is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10.

The Gurley Firehall will open at 5 p.m. for participants to receive the map of the history walk. From there, check out the history pictures of the downtown buildings and view the Gurley jail on the west side of the highway.

Jeff Hartwig will be at the firehall doing a taxidermy demonstration.

There will also be vendors offering their crafts and wares. Vendors include local authors, baked goods, ceramics, Damsel in Defense, fresh produce, goat soap, jams, jellies, mustards, Inspired Snap Jewelry, lawn ornaments, stuffed pumpkins, wood ornaments, wool mittens/kitchen mitts, woven rag rugs and wreaths.

Tammy Osdiek of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension will give a Multi-cooker Demonstration in the Gurley Community Hall basement at 5:30 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. Please bring a mask if planning to attend the multi-cooker demonstration.

The Outlaw Cafe will be serving dinner that night with the help of the Boy Scouts, and it is wing night at The Dock.

From there, the Gurley Town Board will be serving free ice cream at the Community Building until 7:30 p.m. The Lions Club will also be handing out bottled water throughout the evening.

The Salem Lutheran Church members will be having a bak sale with proceeds supporting the Grain Train. Also, they will be having children's craft activities; both activities will take place at the church.
