Creek Valley Storm Batters Minatare 63-22

After an earlier season setback against Paxton, the Creek Valley Storm Football team seems to have righted itself with two straight victories, the latest a 63-to-22 win on the road against rival Minatare.

Storm Head Coach Joe Kupper said after the game, “It’s good to see our guys go out and play physical football against a quality opponent for four quarters.”

All aspects of the Storm’s game were firing on all cylinders, with the rushing attack gaining 134 yards while the Storm connected on 10-of-13 passes for 264 yards and 7 touchdowns. Junior Lucas Trujillo even returned two kickoffs for touchdowns to get the special teams in on the scoring action.

The well-rounded victory put a spring in the boy’s steps, and Kupper noted, “It feels like we finally found our swag for this football team.”

Junior quarterback Eli Schmid was 5-for-6 through the air for 137 yards and four touchdowns while senior Justin Ningen had two and Trujillo added another touchdown pass. Ningen rushed eight times for 81 yards and also recovered two fumbles. Senior Oakley Hodges was the featured target this week, reeling in five catches for 179 yards and four touchdowns. Hodges also led the defense with 15 total tackles, followed by senior Tucker Graeff with 13 total tackles in the win.

The Storm next travel to Banner County on Friday, and look to continue their hot streak against the winless Wildcats. Kupper noted, “Banner has been struggling this season as they are a very young team, but they’re gaining a ton of experience so far this season. They so some things very well on the defensive side of the ball, but they struggle with consistency. We just need to focus and work on ourselves this week and head over to Harrisburg and take care of business.”
