Sidney Boys Cross Country Tops at Ogallala

Girls Squad Places Fourth

Sidney’s Red Raider Cross Country teams traveled to Ogallala on Thursday and had a successful meet, with the boys taking first place and the girls placing fourth overall. The boys were led by junior Mitch Deer’s fourth place individual finish at 17:45.4 followed by junior Daniel Bashtovoi’s eight place finish at 18:00.2. Junior Treyson Johnstone finished 14th at 18:23.2 and junior Julian Maytorena rounded out the top 20 with a 19th place finish at 18:46.2. Sidney lead the team scoring with 40 points, followed by Gothenburg at 47 and Broken Bow at 58.

For the girls, junior Lydia Peters and freshman Talissa Tanquary finished eight and ninth, at 21:09.0 and 21:23.3 respectively, which were the only Raider runners to finish in the top 20. Sidney earned fourth place with a score of 63, while Chadron and Ogallala each finished with with a score of 39, followed by McCook’s score of 49.

Sidney was scheduled to travel to Kearney on Monday for the UNK High School Cross Country Invitational.
