November Sidney Students of the Month

The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges other criteria as well as achievement. These criteria are:

1. Superior academic performance, (or), dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A. or attitude toward learning.

2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project.

3. Outstanding contribution to the class.

4. Leadership exhibited in the class/school.

5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled.

6. Service to school.

7th grade: Kennedy Hobson. We find Kennedy to be a very positive student who always strives to do her best. The accountability she demonstrates in the classroom sends out a very positive message to other students and to her teachers. Kennedy is always ready to help other students and always does so in a very encouraging manner. She leads by example and is an outstanding student. Kennedy is the daughter of Tiffany and Dane Hobson.

8th grade: Kealyn Mortensen. Kealyn Mortensen has been selected as the 8th grad student of the month. Kealyn is very active in the school. She is a very positive leader, and a strong student in the classroom. Thank you, kealyn, for being a great student and a leader in the classroom. Keep working hard. Kealyn is the daughter of Brett and Hayley Hortensen.

9th grade: Madison Kuhns. Academic Performance and Classroom Effort is why Madi was selected. Madi is a positive hardworking student, always doing her best. She was on quarantine for two weeks and emailed almost daily with what she needed to complete to make up points. She also submitted all of her work before the deadlines. This shows strong character and she deserves to be recognized for it. She’s a natural leader and is always willing to help others. Madi plays Volleyball and Basketball and enjoys stahing active by playing sports and hanging out with friends and family. She plans on attending college after high school graduation Madi is the daughter of Andy and Brandy Kuhns.

10th grade: Aspen Gurr. I personally have observed Aspen display all of the qualities that encompass a role model student. Her work in Biology class has far exceeded expectations. Although quiet, Aspen’s work ethic, demeanor, and dedication to her education speaks loduer than most. Aspen is an up and coming leader amongst her classmates and I look forward to watching her gorw in the coming years. She is a member of TJOH and a self-defense class, and enjoys reading books and drawing and painting. Future plans are going to college and traveling the world. Aspen is the daughter of Misty and Dan Gurr.

11th grade: Hannah Ernst. Hannah is a student director and understudy in One-Act Play. Without her efforts, we wouldn’t have been able to perform at our conference contest on Nov. 14, as she stepped in for a cast member who couldn’t perform. She has learned all the character lines in addition to serving as student director. Hannah has been very competent in math class and does a great job with her work and with asking questions. She participates in One Acts, Youth Group, helps with the Ark/preschool at church. She works at Subway and enjoys reading in her spare time and would like to become an author. Hannah is the daughter of Phil and Jennifer Ernst.

12th grade: Josh Ballance. Josh was selected because of his Classroom Effort and Attitude. Josh has done a great job at TA during second period. He does an exceptional job during construction class with whatever is asked of him and very rarely has missed class. He ha a good attitude and has been really productive so far this year. He has participated in Wrestling and Golf, Sophomore Wrestling and Gold Junior Wrestling. As a senior, he is focusing on graduating only. Josh enjoys Sidney High School and says it is a great environment and has great teachers and staff. His future plans are going to the military and then he is planning on becoming a police officer or a state trooper. Josh is the son of Serena Ballance and Damon Ballance.
