City Council Hears Proposal for Golf Simulator

Golf Operations Director Patrick Kilbride presented the Sidney City Council a proposal of adding a golf simulator to the clubhouse. Kilbride told the city council there are currently no courses in the area with a simulator. The nearest course with a golf simulator is in Kearney.

“This would potentially not only attract Sidney residents, but out of towners to come and use the simulator,” Kilbride said in his presentation. “Additionally, the simulator can be used for such things as closest to the pin contests, longest drive contests for company and charitable outings as an additional source of income.”

Kilbride presented three options from under $10,000 (SkyTrak SIG 12 Golf Simulator Package) to $20,000 (Foresight Sim-in-a-Box). Kilbride said SkyTrak at $9,800 is the best value for the investment. He said the simulator could be delivered as soon as late February or March.

He said use of the simulator would cost $35 to $40 per hour. Kilbride said there are several people interested in the simulator. The golf course budget does not include purchase of a simulator.

The council encouraged Kilbride to do more research and return at a later date.
