Dale E. Mika

Dale E. Mika, age 79, of Sidney, NE passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 in Oshkosh, NE. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later time.  You may view Dale's Book of Memories, leave condolences, photos and stories at http://www.gehrigstittchapel.com.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Dale's care and funeral arrangements.

He grew up and attended Lodgepole schools as a boy. As a young adult he began working at the University of Nebraska Lincoln as a custodian. He kept his own apartment in Lincoln and rode his bike daily to work. He worked for 25 years for the university and upon retiring relocated to Sidney to be closer to family. 

Dale loved riding his bike and was often seen doing so until later in his years he began walking more. He was often seen walking in the neighborhood or local parks. He had a gentle disposition and a nice big smile. 

He loved his wall clocks that made sounds of trains and animals and was always checking his watch even in retirement.

Dale enjoyed western movies and particularly John Wayne.  He even had John Wayne collectibles.  Another interest was diecast metal tractors and cars. 

He loved about any kind of food but really enjoyed cookies as a treat. He often kept a few cookies as "extras" in his top pocket. 

Dale is survived by his Sister Shirley Richards and husband Bob, Longmont, CO; Sister-in-law Betty Mika, Sidney, NE; Nephews, Rod Mika and wife Sherryl, Missoula, MT; Steven Mika and wife

Stephanie, Sidney, NE; Nieces, Tami Trump and husband, Dave, Lodgepole, NE; Star Smith and husband Scott, Sidney, NE; Diane Block and husband Ryan, Lodgepole, NE; Julie Miles and husband Mike, Sidney, NE; Liana Ellison and husband Joe Bob, Leander, TX; Lisa Taylor Morgan and husband Jeremy, Edmond, OK.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lulu and three brothers Robert, Francis and Patrick.
