Sidney High Celebrates FFA Week

This week the students at Sidney High have been dressing up to show their appreciation for our students and teachers involved in FFA.

The students involved in this organization go to competitions. The competitions include Leadership Development Events (LDE) and Career Development Events (DDE).

FFA once stood for Future Farmers of America. They have changed the name recently to simply stand for National FFA. FFA promotes leadership and aims to help the community. Is has proven to not just be farming.

“I believe that my experience with FFA has been different that those who grew up on a farm. I have learned many new skills and FFA is definitely more than farming.” said Senior Alyssiah Green.

Green says “My favorite memory from FFA was the bowling night to promote more people to join FFA. Not everyone has been supportive of us but the the night had a good outcome.”

“FFA is mainly for practicing qualities of leadership. We practice public speaking through volunteering for competitions. We try to do work in the community as much as possible. Being involved was a good way to socialize and make friends. I feel more comfortable taling about serious topics with adults now.” says another senior, Katherin Paniagua, who also grew up in town.

FFA is making the students at Sidney High School better people and more prepared for the future. The kids involved in FFA at Sidney High school have loved the support from the school and the community.
