“My Favorite Nebraska Bird” was the theme for the annual Cheyenne County Family and Community Education (FCE) organization’s fifth grade essay contest.
First place honors went to Auri Cranmore, daughter of Levi and Heather Cranmore and second place went to Maxson Wiggins son of Carrie Wiggins & David Wiggins.
Both students who received awards in the Creative Writing Contest are students of Mrs. Jill Bartlings at Leyton Elementary School. Each essay was judged on creativity, research, logical thinking, organization, neatness, spelling, and grammar.
The first-place winning entry will be entered in the State FCE Competition this summer. The mission of the National Association for Family and Community Education is to strengthen individuals, families, and communities through continuing education, leadership development, and community service.
