Queen Contestants Announced; Queen to be Crowned Sept. 2
Grand Marshals for the upcoming 2021 Potter Days celebration are Phil and Evie Miller, longtime residents of the Potter Community. Potter Days will be held September 2, 4 and 5.
Phil was born in Sidney, NE. At age seven, he moved with his family, from Gurley NE to Sidney. Phil graduated from Sidney High School in 1964 and attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, CO.
Evie was born in Sidney also, and graduated from Potter High School in 1962, and the Central Business College in Denver CO. She was the secretary for St. Paul Lutheran Church for many years, and also held several part time bookkeeping jobs.
Phil and Evie were married at the St. Paul Lutheran Church north of Potter in 1966. They farmed for 53 years north of Potter, where they resided. In 2010, they moved into Potter.
Phil is a member of Lutheran Layman’s League and the Potter Lion’s Club. Evie serves on the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, the Potter Historical Museum Board, and has volunteered at the Coyote Caller and A Collective Gathering Flea Market.
Both Phil and Evie have helped in many ways with Potter Days. Phil helped cook and serve the meat for the BBQ, and helped with the farm exhibits. Evie helped with craft exhibits, served at the BBQ and made several pies and cinnamon rolls for the Youth Center Stand, where they both volunteered. They both helped decorate several parade floats for their church.
The Millers are the blessed parents of four children, Amy (who is deceased) and Matt Jones of Potter, Angie and Tom Ebel of Billlings, MT, Greg and Mindy Miller of Seward NE, and Karl and Rachel Miller of Seward NE. They have 15 grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.
