Sidney Cross County Squads Take Titles at Chadron

On Saturday morning, the Sidney Cross Country teams earned first place honors at the Chadron State College High School Cross Country Meet, continuing their dominant start to the Cross Country season.

Sidney seniors took the top three places on their way to the boys championship, scoring 16 points followed by runner-up Gering with 36 points. Sidney standout Cameron Brauer knocked out the five kilometer course in 17:48.5, followed by Daniel Bashtovoi in second place at 18:13.3 and Mitch Deer in third place with a time of 18:27.5.

The girls squad took the championship with 23 points, followed by Gering with 25 points. Sidney sophomore Talissa Tanquary placed first with a time of 21:05.48. Sidney had two more top ten finishers with freshman Jenju Peters placing seventh at 22:52.37 and senior Lydia Peters in eighth at 22:58.01.
