Doris Lorene Thompson Davison

Doris Lorene Thompson Davison passed away at the age of 100, on October 28, 2021, in Hemet, California.  She was born on the family farm near Lodgepole, Nebraska on June 3, 1921 to parents of Harry F. Thompson and Anna J. Thompson, the 5th of 6 children.  She was baptized on July 10, 1921 and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Weyerts in 1935.

Doris attended a one room country school to the 8th grade and was the only family member to graduate Lodgepole High School in 1940.  She was extremely proud of this as she had to wait a year to attend.  After High School, Doris worked for the Cheyenne County Depot as a clerk.  She then moved to Long Beach to work for McDonell Douglas before getting married to Ernest E. Davison on February 19, 1945 in Bremerton, Washington.  They were married 66 years before his passing in 2011.  In July, 1950, they were blessed with a daughter, Connie Leann, to make their family complete.

Doris’ adventuresome spirit led her to follow Ernie’s Navy career to Yap Island and then to Turkey with Connie.  They lived on both the East coast and West coast before settling in Lynwood as well as Long Beach, CA.

Doris worked for the Compton Unified School District as a clerk until her retirement in 1986.  She and Ernie, then moved to Hemet to be closer to Connie.  She devoted her time to her grandchildren attending games and being a part of their holidays and birthdays.

She was an active crafts women, sewed, decorated, crocheted  and helped at church where she was involved with St. John’s Lutheran LWML and Braille.  She and Ernie traveled with friends and took many trips to visit family in Nebraska and Colorado.

Doris is survived by her loving daughter, Connie Heddon and her husband, Dan; grandchildren, Wylie (Shawn) Chambers, Desiri Burnett, Matthew (Amberlee) Maybeno; great grandchildren, Devlynn Chambers, Jaden Burnett, Rylie Burnett, Austin Gandy and Maven Maybeno, and many nephews and nieces whom she loved.

We will miss her loving spirit, her smiles and laughter.
