Coyotes Take D2-11 Title

Potter-Dix's Coyote Basketball team entered the D2-11 Subdistrict Tournament as the clear favorite, and had no trouble defeating their two opponents to move on to a District Final against Mullen at Hershey High School on Tuesday, March 1.

First, Potter-Dix faced Creek Valley on Tuesday, and easily breezed past the Storm with a 62-to-24 win to set up their meeting with South Platte in the Finals on Thursday. Potter-Dix opened a lead early and behind leading scorer Luke Kasten continued to pull away from the Knights through the contest.

Potter-Dix had built up a twenty-point lead at the end of the third period while South Platte furiously tried to come back in the final quarter. However, the Coyotes were too fast and and hit their shots, and pulled away for a 16 point 56-to-40 victory and earned their place in the District Finals. Junior Luke Kasten led the scoring for Potter-Dix with 18 points, and the Coyotes had two other players score in double digits. Juniors Zachary Rotert and Karter Wittrock had 14 and 11 points in the win, respectively.

Potter-Dix was scheduled to face the Mullen Broncos in the D2-8 District Final at Cozad High School on Tuesday March 1. Mullen had a 13-and-8 record going into the contest. A trip to the NSAA State Tournament goes to the winner of the game.
