Potter-Dix, Leyton Compete at Bayard CD Invite

The Leyton Warrior Track and Field teams and the Potter-Dix Coyote Track and Field teams competed on Saturday at the Bayard CD Invitational.

With beautiful weather and a slight breeze, the athletes had a great day for competition, and for the boys the team from Pine Bluffs, Wyo., took top honors with 86 points, and Bayard took home top honors for the girls squad with 79 points.

The Leyton boys placed fourth overall with 68.5 points and the Potter-Dix boys placed eighth with 40 points. The Leyton girls placed eighth with 41 points and the Potter-Dix girls placed fifteenth with four points.

Wins for the boys teams included Leyton's 4X800 Meter Relay team (Rummell, Tretter, Carter, Ernest) taking first with a time of 9:15.97 and Potter-Dix senior Thomas Muldoon winning the High Jump clearing 6' 0”.

Other notable results included Potter-Dix junior Luke Kasten placing third in the Long Jump and 200 Meters, Leyton junior Gabriel Tretter placing fourth in the 400 Meters and the 1600 Meters.

Leyton's 4X100 Meter Relay team (Shepard, Bush, Ernest, Reimers) placed second, and Leyton senior Jonathan Borges placed fourth in the Discus and sixth in the Shot Put.

For the girls teams, wins included Leyton freshman Zaili Benish winning the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 49.04. Leyton's 4X100 Meter Relay team (Beuttler, Watchorn, Gamble, Z. Benish) took second place. Potter-Dix junior Jayden Shoemaker took sixth place in the High Jump, Leyton freshman Shawnee Gamble took third in the 400 Meters and Leyton sophomore Kaitlyn Craig placed fifth in the Shot Put.

Leyton also competed at the Tri State Meet at Creek Valley High School on Tuesday April 5 and Potter-Dix is next scheduled to compete at the Creek Valley Twilight Invite on Tuesday April 12.
