Warriors Take Title at Cheyenne County Meet

Leyton's Warrior Boy's Track and Field Team had a busy week, winning the MAC HS Meet on Tuesday then hosting the Cheyenne county Meet on Friday, and also winning.
Leyton's 157 points bested runner-up Paxton's 110 points and third place Potter-Dix's 79 points. For the girls, South Platte took top honors with 131 points and the Leyton girls were runner-ups with 80 points. Kimball placed third with 76 points.
Outstanding performances included Leyton junior Cort Rummel winning the 100 Meters at 11.4, a personal best time, followed by Leyton senior Matthew Shepard in second place, and Leyton sophomore Peyton Abbott in third place. Leyton junior Justin Ernest and senior KJ Bush placed second and third in the 200 Meters and junior Gabriel Tretter won the 800 Meters at 2:12.83, another personal best time.
Sophomore Kaleb Borges won the 110 Meter Hurdles with a time of 17.26 and the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 46.16. Leyton's 4X100 Meter Relay team (M. Shepard, KJ Bush, J. Ernest, M. Reimers) won with a time of 46.51, and the 4X400 Meter Relay team (C. Carter, C. Rummel, G.Tretter, J. Ernest) won with a time of 3:43.35. Senior Jonathan Borges won the Shot Put with a throw of 44' 7.5” and placed second in the Discus. Senior Mason Reimers won the Long Jump with a distance of 21' 1”.
Potter-Dix junior Luke Kasten won the 200 Meters with a time of 24.01 and sophomore Brayden Kasten placed second in the 400 meters. Junior James Pease placed second in the 1600 Meters and 3200 Meter. Senior Thomas Muldoon won the High Jump, clearing 5' 10”.
For the Leyton girls, sophomore Trinity Beutler won the 200 Meters at 29.59 and junior Axi Benish won the 3200 Meters at 13.21.4. Freshman Zaili Bensih won the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 49.49 and placed second in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Leyton's 4X100 Meter Relay team (T. Beutler, S. Gamble, Z. Benish, C. Watchorn) won with a time of 53.17
For the Potter-Dix girls, freshman Kallie Crossman won the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 13.67, a personal best, and freshman Crystal Dhooge placed second in the 1600 Meters. Junior Lily Tabor won the Pole Vault clearing 7' 6” and placed second in the Shot Put.
