Beverly J. (Wasser) Sawyer, 88, of Warren died on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Baystate Wing Hospital.
A Funeral Service for Beverly was held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Wilbraham United Church, 500 Main Street in Wilbraham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rotary Club of the Brookfields, P.O. Box 733, Warren, MA 01083. Please notate on the check memo for “Charitable Fund in Memory of Beverly Sawyer”.
Beverly attended both Hastings College and UMass earning her degree in Music and Education. She taught at Wilbraham Elementary School for 34 years before retiring.
After her retirement, she volunteered at Mary Lane Hospital for over 20 years.
Beverly was involved in many different activities and committees in her community. She was a soloist at Trinity Methodist Church in Springfield, a member of the Springfield Symphony Chorus and the Tuesday Morning Music Club. A committee member for the Warren Housing Authority and the Cultural Council as well as the Rural Improvement and the Town Decorating committees.
She was a member of the Simsbury Light Opera, the Wilbraham Madrigal Singers, and Wilbraham United Players.
She leaves her grandson, Cody Anderson of Providence, RI; her four adopted daughters, Helen Hawley, Carol Sawyer, Mary Bowe and Sarah Randall, her sister LaWanna (Wasser) Hajek as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Winnifred Davison, her son, Martin R. Anderson and her husband, Dr. Samuel P. Sawyer. She was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, daughter of the late Leonard and Thelma (Tracy) Wasser.
