Carolyn J. Fehringer, age 94, of Peetz, CO, passed away on July 12, 2022, in Sidney, NE. A Wake service will be held at 6:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Peetz on Friday, July 15, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Peetz. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Peetz, CO. Services will be recorded and available on our website for viewing. Friends may stop at the Church on Friday from 4-6:00 P.M. and leave condolences for the family. Memorials can be made to the Sacred Heart Church or the Peetz Volunteer Fire Department.

Carolyn Joyce Fehringer, the daughter of Herman Carl Frederick Westphalen and Maurine Catherine Eicher Westphalen, was born on November 15, 1927, at Sidney, NE. She had one sister, Virginia and one brother, Vernon (Heinie). They lived on a farm west of Lorenzo. She attended school in Lorenzo except her last two years at Sidney High School. She stayed in the home of Dr. and Mrs. Hull Cook of Sidney. Dr. Cook sparked her interest in nursing by offering her a work study at his doctor’s office. After graduating she attended St. Luke’s in Denver and returned to Sidney and worked for Dr. Cook and Dr. Bitner until 1949. On June 2, 1949, Carolyn married Donald Lavern Fehringer at Sacred Heart Church in Peetz. They had four children Randy, Jim, Lu Anne and Kevin.

Besides raising her children, Carolyn was active in Boy and Girl Scouts, 4-H, teaching Farmers Union workshops for 49 years, religious ed teacher, volunteering with Council on Aging, Meet and Eat, and the Democratic Committee. She enjoyed belonging to Farm Women’s Club, Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society, Pitch Club, Bridge Club and following children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She and Donald were honored as Peetz Sake Day Parade Marshalls, Logan County Democrat of the Year and Farmers Union Farm Family of the Year.

Survivors include (3) sons, Randy (Marijayne) of Peetz, Jim (Barb) of McCool Junction, NE, Kevin (Sara) of Aurora, CO; (1) daughter: Lu Anne (Phil) Schumacher of Peetz (9) grandchildren and (18) great-grandchildren; (2) brothers-in-law Ivan (Donna) Fehringer, Arleigh Nelson, and sister-in-law Milly Westphalen.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, her parents, sister, Virginia Nagengast and husband Paul; brother, Vernon; brother-in-law, George Louderbach; sister-in-law Marietta and husband Nyle Leypoldt and sister-in-law Aurleen Nelson and parents-in-law: Anthony (Tony) and Loretta Fehringer.
