Week 31

The Love Life is not Pollyanna or wimpy. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind,” 2 Timothy 1:7 Holy Spirit is power. God IS love. Jesus, the Master of self. Without Him we can do nothing, but with Holy Spirit guidance, Father’s love and Jesus’ example of self-mastery we are more than conquerors by the Anointing of the Anointed One (Messiah/Christ).

Loving as Jesus loved takes authority over one’s spirit, self and circumstances of the day. Mark 4:17-19 reports 5 weapons satan uses, through lies and deception, to hold us hostage: Affliction, (harassment, offense) Persecution, Cares of this world, lusts of other things that enter in to choke the Word and deceitfulness of riches.” STILL, there are 7,000 Scripture promises written for our victory!

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man, and God is faithful Who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation, He will also make the way of escape that you may be able to bear it.” I Corinthians 10:13 Holy Spirit is the escape artist! Against the devil’s 5 temptations, He is, in us, faith, patience, self-control, kindness, gentleness, mercy (goodness) which is peace (Shalom) bringing joy, which IS love! Galatians 5:22,23

Speak life to yourself. “I am a blessed sower! My covenant with God is a sure thing!” “My faith overcomes every adversity.” “I am born of power, love and a sound mind.” “My mind is stayed on Jesus. Peace (wholeness) is mine.” Isaiah 26:3. Faith filled words today, will fend off trying circumstances tomorrow.

A minister friend was accosted by a thief who cut the shoulder strap to his rather expensive camera and made off with it. Determined to be Christ-like, he and his wife forgave the thief, praying that Jesus would bring him to salvation. Then, they found a store selling cameras. They said, “If we can replace the camera, that’s good, but if we can find that zoom lens we’ve been praying for, that will be better.” A powerful zoom lens is usually priced well above cost of a camera.

The shop owner had a replacement for the stolen camera, but was certain that he did not have the zoom lens. However, as the pastor and his wife browsed around the store, the wife saw a dilapidated box on a top shelf. On investigation it turned out to contain the exact zoom lens they desired. In the excitement and awe of the moment, the shop keeper just gave them the zoom lens!

Jesus’ Blood on the cross grants us, as believers, authority in the world and over the underworld. “I am come that you might have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10. “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith [that abundant life is guaranteed by Jesus].” I John 5:4.
