Sidney XC Qualifies For State Meet

Sidney's Red Raider Cross Country teams will be competing at the NSAA Cross Country Championships at the Kearney Country Club on October 21. The teams each had a third place finish at the C-5 District Meet in Ogallala to earn their way to the State meet next Friday.

“It was challenging weather, but we run well in colder temperatures,” said Sidney Head Coach Donna Wiedeburg. “Our kids ran a smart race and worked well as a team, both boys and girls, and I'm expecting great results at the State Meet,' she added.

The Sidney girls placed two runners in the top-10, junior Talissa Tanquary with a third place finish and senior Rheo Dykstra with a ninth place finish. For the boys, sophomores Jashawn Davenport and Noah Canas placed fourteenth and fifteenth to propel the Sidney boys to a third place finish, and qualify the team for the State Meet.

The boys team qualified for the ninth time in a row and the girls team will be going to the State Meet for the third time in a row. Last year, the girls team took the Class C title while the boys finished as runners-up.
