Delta Dawn When the Light Comes On: Week Four

"'For I know the thoughts I have toward you', says the Lord, 'thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope (expected end).'" Jeremiah 29:11 Find the right church for you, even if it is across the hemisphere, and there, God will fulfill the desires of your heart. Step forward to serve, in that church, and Father will provide His best to you, every time.

Homer loved his job! Tom Hill, Kimray CEO, trained Homer on the console that painted every Kimray pressure valve Kimray red. Tom had given him pointers on the quality of work and shown him troubleshooting tips, telling him to be alert and call for help early. The HR Assistant had come by, a couple of times, to learn if all was going well and asking if he had suggestions that might help in training.

Homer was well received in the coffee room, although eyebrows went up when he enthused over his good fortune to be a Kimray employee. One man, in particular, began coming to work on time and took fewer 'breaks'. They were beginning to build a comradery. Pay was good, also. Homer had been able to catch up some back rent, buy Emma a new dress and a few things for the baby.

About six weeks into his employment, the HR Assistant asked Homer to go, with him, to Tom's office. It was weird that he kept looking around as if someone was following them. Once in Tom's office, Homer was invited to 'have a seat'.

Tom welcomed Homer enthusiastically. "We're adding a new position, here at Kimray, and we think you are the man for the job. It comes with a promotion, a pay raise and a signing bonus." Nola remained silent.

Tom elaborated, "This is a very sensitive responsibility in quality control. As you know it is 42 weeks before we can get a Kimray valve manufactured, painted and ready for the field. This is 9½ months of work at Kimray. However, with oil and gas booming as it is, we must get those valves into operation as soon as we can. There may be one not quite up to our standard, but we need you to pass it and send it out, billed at full price. We can handle returns if needed later, but the field needs the valves now, and we need the income. Do you understand?"

Homer gulped and said, "Yes, Sir, I believe I do." Nola was not smiling.

Tom went on. "I know you will want to talk with Emma about this. We will meet again, tomorrow, at 10 A.M. Give us your answer then. Have an excellent evening, and tell Emma 'hello'." Tom ended the meeting. Nola didn't speak and Homer fled home to Emma.

"Come, now and let us reason, together, says the Lord." Isaiah 1:19. "Two are better than one. They have a good reward for their labor and a cord of three cannot be easily broken." Ecclesiastes 4:9, 12
