On Saturday January 14, the Creek Valley Lady Storm secured their first win of the season, grinding out a fourth quarter rally to pull away from the winless Banner County Lady Wildcats 48-to-37.
This was a close game until the fourth quarter, with Banner County holding a 22-to-20 lead at the half. A tough defensive third quarter had Creek Valley take a two point lead at 28-to-26 at the end of the third quarter, and then the Lady Storm got into a scoring groove in the fourth quarter, knocking down 20 points in the quarter to take the 48-to-37 victory.
Creek Valley junior Anna Speirs had 26 points in the victory, followed by junior Ella Whiting with 10 points.
Creek Valley then matched up against a tough South Platte Lady Blue Knights team in the MAC Tournament, and fell behind quickly, 31-to-13 at the halftime break. South Platte then had a huge third quarter, putting up 27 points and sealing the game. South Platte cruised through the fourth quarter and took the 75-to-22 victory. South Platte sophomore Izzy Reichman led the scoring with 16 points, and the Lady Blue Knights had five players score in double digits in the win.
