Strong Blue Knight First Quarter Dooms Storm, 71-64

Creek Valley's Storm Boys Basketball team has had trouble getting into the win column all year, and had a great opportunity for a win against a struggling South Platte team foiled by a slow start to the game.

On Friday, the Storm traveled over to Big Springs for a matchup with the Blue Knights, another team that has struggled to find the win column. But the Blue Knights started hot, building a six-point 17-to-11 lead at the end of the first period, and Creek Valley's solid play for the next three quarters just wasn't enough to erase the early deficit.

In the second quarter, Creek Valley was able to outscore South Platte 17-to-16 to go into the half trailing 33-to-28. But the Storm was unable to make up ground in the third quarter, and fell further behind. A strong fourth quarter with 25 points scored was not enough to erase the South Platte lead, and the Blue Knights went on to a 71-to-64 victory.

The Storm will play in the Subdistrict Tournament which starts on Monday, February 20.
