Funding the Future Rocks!
Financial Literacy Program coming to Sidney High School
March 2, 2023
Sidney, NE: – Funding the Future, in partnership with Carter Hulsey, will visit Sidney High School on Tuesday, March 14th at 10:30am to share with students the importance of financial literacy.
The show is sponsored by the Nebraska Council on Economic Education (NCEE). The mission of the NCEE is to act as a catalyst and lead a statewide initiative to advance economic and financial literacy. Jennifer Davidson, president of the NCEE and assistant professor of practice in economics, coordinated the performances and explained why the band’s music and message are a win-win for young people. She said, “partnering with Funding the Future and nationally known musicians have been the most fun and engaging way to bring the important financial literacy message to today’s students. The rock concert catches the students off guard and they are paying attention. It’s not something they are used to in a school setting. They have a great time listening to truly amazing musicians.”
Funding the Future is a 501(c)(3) organization that teaches students vital financial principles by organizing live musical performances at schools across the nation and creating a dialogue around financial literacy between students and musicians. Since 2014, Funding the Future has reached more than 234,000 students across 35 states, Washington D.C., and two Canadian provinces. They believe by teaching financial literacy to this next generation of leaders, these young adults will make smarter financial decisions, leading to increased professional and personal success.
