Potter-Dix, Leyton Compete at Morrill Early Bird

This year's Morrill Early Bird Track & Field meet was moved from Saturday to Friday in anticipation of the bad weather over the weekend, and the student-athletes were able to compete under sunny and cool temperatures.

The Potter-Dix and Leyton teams traveled to Morrill to compete, and had some outstanding performances. For Potter-Dix, senior Luke Kasten placed third in the 100 Meters, 11th in the Discus and was on the fourth place 4X100 meter Relay team. Junior Brayden Kasten placed 7th in the 200 Meters, 5th in the 400 Meters, and was on the fourth place 4X400 Meter Relay team.

Freshman Dylan Tabor placed fourth in the 110 Meter Hurdles and 9th in the Triple Jump. For the girls, senior Kallie Crossman placed 7th in the 100 Meters and 7th in Pole Vault, sophomore Taylah Wison placed 13th in the 400 Meters and 4th in Pole Vault, sophomore Crystal Dhooge placed 14th in the 800 Meters and 12th in the High Jump. Senior Jayden Shoemaker placed 4th in High Jump and senior Lily Tabor placed 9th in Shot Put. Junior Jacina Wilbur placed 15th in Triple Jump and 30th in Long Jump.

For Leyton, senior Cort Rummel placed 2nd in the 200 Meters, was part of the second-place 4 x 100 Relay team and placed 9th in Long Jump. Senior Justin Ernest won the 400 Meters, followed by senior Chance Carter in second place, and Ernest also won the 800 Meters. Ernest was also part of the second-place 4X100 Meter Relay team.

Freshman Alec Watchorn placed second in both the 110 Meter Hurdles and 300 Meter Hurdles and placed third in the High Jump. Sophomore Zach Anderson took 5th place in the Shot Put and 10th in Discus, senior Dawson Juelfs placed 7th in Pole Vault and junior Kaleb Borges placed 16th in Triple Jump.

Leyton and Potter-Dix are both next scheduled to compete at the CD Bayard Track Invitational at Bayard High School on Saturday, April 1.
