Marcus A. Hartzler

Marcus Alan Hartzler, age 32, of Crete, NE formerly of Sidney, passed away in Crete on Sunday, May 14, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Sidney, NE with Pastor Chad Rademacher officiating. Those attending are asked to wear their favorite NFL or Husker attire. Marcus was a Kansas City Chiefs fan, and proud of it! Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery at Sidney. Services will be livestreamed on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Facebook page and recorded for later viewing on our website.

Friends and family may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Sunday from 2-5:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of the family for future designation.

Marcus Alan Hartzler was born on November 10, 1990 to Alan and Mickie (Hoban) Hartzler. Marcus graduated from Sidney High School in 2009 where he was involved in football, basketball, and track. He was a three-sport letter winner throughout High School and went on to attend Chadron State College on a track scholarship. Marcus enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing, camping, and Lake McConaughy. You could find him hanging out with his teammates and friends. Marcus enjoyed his daughter Millee, she was the apple of daddy's eye. Marcus was a very loving father to his little girl, often sporting a tiara and playing dress up. Marcus enjoyed talking and playing sports with his nephew Kaiden. He loved kids of all ages, and they loved him too. He was his sister's biggest fan, and quickly became a little brother to all her friends. Marcus was a member of DeMolay from ninth grade until graduation and held many offices. He was idolized by younger cousins and was a role model to many. His enthusiasm for life, love for his family, and passion for sports will be missed by many.

Marcus is survived by his daughter Millee; his mother: Mickie (Hoban) Hartzler; sister Magen Hartzler and boyfriend Uriah Bankes, nephew Kaiden Shatto of Douglas, WY, paternal grandparents Mike Sr. and Gladys (Onken) Hartzler of Sidney, NE, maternal grandmother Marolyn Hoban of North Platte, NE, aunts and uncles Steve and Angie Hartzler of Sidney, NE, Traci and Larry Brachtenbach of Casper, WY, Brad Hartzler of Bedford, TX, Lori Hartzler of North Richland Hills, TX, Tony Schultz of North Platte, NE, Amber Hoban of North Platte, NE, and Andy and Elery Hoban of Nixa, MO, as well as several cousins and many close, special friends.

Marcus was preceded in death by his father Alan Hartzler, maternal grandfather, Morris "Moe" Hoban, uncle Mike Hartzler, aunt Marcie Schultz, and special friend Scotty Robinson.
