Delta Dawn When the Light Comes On: Week Twenty-one

"The fear (reverence) of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom, and before honor is humility (submitting under the Mighty Hand of God)." Proverbs 15:33; James 4:10

Why fear today's hubbub and craze? God is faithful, just and true. He cannot lie. His Plan will be effective, for He has spoken, "So shall My Word be, that goes from My mouth. It shall not return to Me void (empty, fruitless), but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing (Plan, people, nation) to which I send it." Isaiah 55:11

Our Founding Fathers had one text book: The Bible. John Adams read it through, the first time, at age 4. His cousin, Samuel Adams, in experience and lifestyle, was akin to a young hero also condemned by a rogue government. Worthy men gathered to Adams' political savvy, just as distressed. indebted, sad, disenfranchised men, needing a captain, came to David, the giant killer. First Samuel 22

Samuel Adams, Jr., considered the Father of the Constitution. was born in Boston, September 26, 1722, to a wealthy, political family. He enrolled in Harvard at age 14 and completed a Master's thesis based on John Locke's Two Treatises of Government. Adams' conviction to individual rights compelled him to insisted on a Constitutional Bill of Rights, "If Taxes are laid upon us, in any shape, without our having a legal Representation where they are laid, are we not reduced from the Character of free Subjects to the miserable State of tributary Slaves?"

"Why do the nations rage and the people plot a vain thing against the Lord and against His Anointed Son (Jesus)? He who sits in the Heavens shall laugh at him, for He sees his day is coming." Psalm 2: 1, 4; Psalm 37:13

George Whitefield, and circuit riding preachers, traveled throughout the Colonies, bringing converts to God. Jonathan Edward's sermon, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" caused a return to Pilgrim/Puritan values. American Colonists had an excellent standard of living in 1765, so Britain brought them a series of laws laden with taxes to pay for the French and Indian war. The Crown fell into the hands of angry Colonists! Massachusetts' Governor Francis Bernard, called England for troops. They came on the warship Romney in 1768. Riots began. Britain closed Boston harbor after a horrifying massacre and statement making Tea Party. Prayer and fasting increased. Marblehead, Massachusetts then opened her harbor to commerce.

Both John and Samuel Adams believed the Declaration and U.S. Constitution were "written by the finger of God Almighty.", and, therefore Divinely Connected. To Wit: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press or of the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
