Three Sidney Public Schools teachers participated in the Colfax Half-Marathon on May 19

SIDNEY – Three teachers from Sidney Public Schools dashed across the finish line in style at the Colfax Half-Marathon on May 19.

Mrs. Janssen, Mrs. Bish and Mrs. Payne represented Sidney in the 13.1 mile half-marathon last weekend, which started at Denver's City park on the east side of Ferrill Lake.

The team experienced new sights featured in this years' half-marathon; such as the Denver Zoo and Downtown Denver.

Other sites the team took in included famous VooDoo Donuts, Irish Snug and the Cathedral Basilica. The half-marathon course took the trio down to the state Capitol, the Civic Center Park, 16th Street Mall, the Denver Convention Center and Cherry Creek Bike Path all while taking in the breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains not too far in the distance.

The portion of the half-marathon course through the zoo, roughly a mile, took the teachers past the rhinos, elephants, monkeys, tigers, giraffes, lions, penguins and other fan favorite animals at the Denver Zoo, such as the seas lions, vultures and camels.

The team finished strong along the home stretch of the half-marathon through Denver's historic district.

The ladies finished well ahead the time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes and were energized with water or gatorade every two miles along the course.
