Weekend Golf Tournaments raise money for local causes

On Saturday, June 17, the Potter-Dix Early Learning Facility held their annual Summer Shenanigans Golf Fundraiser at Prairie Pines Golf Course in Potter. 10 teams participated in the event, which raises money for the Early Learning Facility. This year, funds raised will be used to service the toys and playground equipment and also to resurface the area to keep it safe and in good shape.

The event is not a high-stakes round of golf, but rather a just-for-fun event that has prizes for accomplishments like "Longest Marshmallow Drive" and "Longest Sling Shot Drive". Golfers shouldn't be surprised if they have to make a putt while wriggling around with a hula-hoop. The event was great fun for all involved and raised money for a great cause that helps children in the Potter area.

Also on Saturday, the 6th annual Mike Hartzler Memorial Golf Tournament was held at Hillside Golf Course. Perfect weather greeted the 28 teams and 112 participants in the tournament who enjoyed a relaxing day out on the links while raising money for a good cause.

This year, the Memorial Scholarship fund will give out two, two-thousand dollar scholarships to local students to help finance their continued education. After the event was completed, the group adjourned to The Rock for food, drinks, raffles and to distribute awards to the top teams and individuals at the Memorial Golf tournament.
