Gordon Rallies Past Post 17 Seniors, 4-3

On Wednesday June 28, the Sidney American Legion Post 17 Senior Baseball team traveled up to Gordon for a game against the Security First Regulators. What started as a pitcher's duel turned into fast and furious finish as the home team was able to rally past the Post 17 Senior in the bottom of the 7th inning for the win.

Rhyder Bayne went the whole way on the mound, giving up four runs on six hits while striking out nine. Jayce Freeseman got the start for the Regulators, and traded scoreless innings until the top of the sixth inning when with two outs, Blaine Russell was able to work a walk, Reid Fiscus flied a single to center filed, then Conner Schumacher hit a sharp grounder to shortstop that Gordon's Logan Slama couldn't handle, and two runs scored. During the at bat, a third run scored on a wild pitch. The inning ended with Sidney holding a 3-to-0 lead. But in the bottom of the sixth, after giving up a single, a balk by Bayne and then another single brought in the first Gordon run. Blaine Russell then committed an error at second base that allowed the Gordon runner to advance to third and then score, and at the end of the frame the Sidney lead was trimmed to 3-to-2.

Sidney looked to rally back to stop the Gordon momentum, but the side was retired in order and the game went to the bottom of the seventh. After getting the first out, Bayne ran into trouble and loaded up the bases giving up two singles and a walk. Conner Hurt took the mound in relief of Bayne, and was called for a balk, driving in the runner and ending the game in favor of the Regulators, 4-to-3.

Reid Fiscus has two hits in and an RBI in the loss.
