Donald William Norcott

Donald William Norcott, age 71, passed away at his home in Sidney, NE on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from years of medical complications.

Don's funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 in the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel in Sidney, NE with Pastor Lee Eads officiating. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel to sign Don's register book and leave condolences for the family prior to the service between 9:00-11:00 A.M. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery following the service. Don's services will be livestreamed on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Facebook page and recorded for later viewing on our website.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any contributions be made in Don's name to any of the numerous foundations he supported (Ducks Unlimited, Wildlife Forever, Delta Waterfowl, Pheasants Forever, Wild Fowl, or Arbor Day Foundation). Don was born April 27, 1952 in Sterling, CO to Wilma (Mazel) and Don Norcott. After the family moved to Sidney, he attended grade school and graduated from Sidney High School. Following graduation, Don worked for a couple of local farmers, as well as Pfizer, for a short time before starting a career with the Nebraska Department of Roads. He retired from the NDOR after 45 years as a maintenance worker and equipment operator. He was dubbed with the nickname "Bubbles" by a co-worker.

Don was an avid hunter and fisherman, spanning over 65 years of hunting & fishing trips in Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, Canada and Alaska. Don was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Don is survived by his sister, Jennifer Norcott of Sidney, his uncle, Ted Mazel of Sterling, CO and numerous cousins.
