Delta Dawn When the Light Comes On: Week 39

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgiveorgive and cleanse (purify, beautify) us from all unrighteousness (whatever is not like Him)" I John 1:9

Yom Kippur. The Day of Atonement. September 25, this year. The most well attended of any Jewish festival. Not the Jubilee year, just past, when all possessions were returned to their proper owner, all debts canceled and slaves freed, but Yom Kippur when sin is covered up for another year.

Jesus came to die on the Cross in order to redeem those who believe on His Name (John 3:16); Redeemed from the curse of the Law given to Moses in Exodus 20. Believers retain, and walk in, the blessings and promises of that Law. Galatians 3:13. After His sacrifice, burial and resurrection, Jesus said, " ... by this all will know that you are My disciples if you have love for one another." John 13:34, 35 Jesus' only commandment keeps all 613 laws, including "Love thy neighbor as thyself."

Think about it. If you love others as you love yourself, things are gonna go downhill, particularly if you don't like yourself very much. The intellect often sets goals for a man that he cannot possibly live up to. And, unfortunately, the psychological thinker will judge others by what he knows of himself. Socially, he will begin to compare himself with himself and that is just not wise. His emotions and coping devices will lead him to alcohol, drugs, food, gambling, work or some other destructive behavior. 2 Corinthians 10:12; Galatians 2:20, 21

Believers must gain perspective. Ask Father God to show you what He sees!

Paul's letter to the Galatians rips foolishness out of Believers and pulls them onto a track of truth concerning their Messiah. Discipleship causes one to be faithful, patient, self-controlled, kind, gentle and good, which brings peace (nothing missing, nothing broken), which is strength (joy) and that IS Love! Operating at its best, not even a gum wrapper can be out of place! Galatians 5:22, 23

The Law is perfect. The curse expunged by the perfect sacrifice of Jesus' Blood. Galatians 3:13. Christians enjoy, not so much the lack of sin, but Holy Spirit's way of escape: God's Grace! Hebrews 4:16 "Therefore let us come boldly to the Throne of Grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in a time of need." Mercy is love (Father), power (Holy Spirit), a sound mind, Jesus' self-mastery!

Finally, understand the Jews are a people chosen by God from the Covenant with Abram, Genesis 15. Christians are born of Jesus' heart, pierced by a soldier at His crucifixion. Arising three days later, He defeated death completely! Those who believe live on as spirits within His Spirit, seated right beside Father in Heaven!

"Because Your loving kindness is better than Life, my lips will praise you! Thus, I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your Name and my soul shall be satisfied with marrow and fatness (abundance) and my mouth will praise You with joyful lips." Psalm 63:3-5
