Charlotte Iona Anderson

Charlotte I. Anderson, age 99, of Sidney, NE, passed away peacefully in Sidney on Saturday, December 2, 2023 and was welcomed into the open arms of our Lord and Savior. She was a blessing to her family and friends with her faith, kindness, love, humor, and compassion for 99 ½ years. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Faith Methodist Church in Sidney, NE with Pastor Corey Jenkins officiating. Cremation has been held. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Golden, CO. Services will be livestreamed on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Facebook page and recorded for later viewing on our website.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday, December 11, 2023, from 1:00-6:00 P.M. to leave condolences for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Faith Methodist Care/Share Program.

Charlotte was born on April 19, 1924, in Chappell, NE, to Ezra and Minnie (Krogh) Jeppesen. She was raised on a farm 10 miles North of Big Springs, NE. Charlotte graduated from Big Springs High School and then attended Kearney State Teachers College for one year.

On June 18, 1944, Charlotte married her high school sweetheart, Vernon F. Anderson. They lived in Lincoln, NE, and El Paso, TX, until Vernon was sent overseas. Charlotte returned to Big Springs and taught elementary school until Vernon returned from the war. They made their home on a farm South of Big Springs where their children, Richard, and twins Wanda and Rodney were born. They moved to Sidney in 1949. Charlotte was an accomplished seamstress, working for Fischer Drapery and Greenlees Department Store in the fabric department. They moved to Golden, CO, in 1966, where she was employed by JC Penny until her retirement in 1986. Charlotte moved back to Sidney in 2002.

While living in Sidney, Charlotte was an active member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Young at Heart, Circle, and Bible class. She was a member of several Bridge and card groups and a member of PEO Sisterhood Chapter BO. She loved sewing, reading, ceramics, and cards of all kinds, but above all else, her biggest love and joy was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter: Wanda and Husband Larry Talich of Sidney, NE, sons: Richard and Wife Arline Anderson of Macomb, IL, and Rodney and wife Dianna Anderson of Martin, SD, sister-in-law: Rynetta Jeppesen of Fremont, NE, 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Anderson, her parents, Ezra and Minnie Jeppesen, sister Garnett Hannon, brothers Clifford and Howard Jeppesen, sister-in-law Helen Jeppesen and great-grandson Taylor Fuchs.
