Security First Bank to Hold Annual Food Drive

To combat local hunger, Security First Bank participated in their fifth annual Feeding Hearts Food Drive from February 1-14. Community members were encouraged to donate non perishable food items that will be redistributed to Congregate Meal patrons struggling to make ends meet.

Meals on Wheels, another name for Congregate Meals, is partially funded by The Older Americans Act with other resources stemming from community and private donors, according to mealsonwheelsamerica.org. With each program varying by town, local volunteering and donation is instrumental to the success of each operation. Whether it be at a physical meal, or the reliance of the delivery service, Congregate Meals focuses on offering a well balanced meal and an opportunity to socialize for all seniors active in the program.

Last year, the Security First fundraiser collected over 3,500 food and personal care items in addition to making a $500 donation towards each individual Security First community.
