Betty I. Peetz

Betty I. Peetz, age 101 of Sidney, NE passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024.

Rosary Services will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Both services will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sidney with Fr. Lou Nollette officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday from 1-6 with family present from 4-6.   In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Saint Patrick's Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Betty's care and funeral arrangements.

Betty was born November 28, 1922 in Gurley, NE where she grew up. Her childhood home still stands. She married Burgett Peetz on January 12, 1942. They had three children, Larry, David and Nancy Hiett. During her earlier years, she worked at Farmer's Coop and Saint Patrick's High School. Later, she and Burgett were owners of the Sears store for many years. She was a member of the Saint Patrick's Choir, Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, now known as DCCW, Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She also volunteered at the Saint Patrick's Rummage House.  She played the piano with the Millard Musil Band, and her dad played the drums.

Betty is survived by her children, Larry and wife Janet, David and wife Helen, and Nancy Hiett, all of Sidney, NE, eight Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, and one Great, Great Grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Burgett, her Parents, Frank and Lillian Morey, one Brother, Keith, and one Great-Grandson, Rylan.
