The "Musicman" Returns

SIDNEY – Back by popular demand, multi acoustic instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Paul Siebert will bring his unique style and engaging personality to the stage of the Sidney High School Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 14th. With his charismatic showmanship and vast repertoire of popular American music, Siebert has been entertaining audiences throughout the Midwest for over thirty years.

Siebert incorporates as many as eight different acoustic instruments into his performances, including the guitar, banjo, button accordion, and fiddle, but his favorite is the hammered dulcimer. If you have never heard this instrument, you are in for a real treat. Paul is a well-rounded entertainer, known for interacting with audiences and sharing his vast knowledge of all genres of popular music – everything from the cowboy tunes of Roy Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers to contemporary classics made famous by John Denver, James Taylor, and Simon & Garfunkel. He is equally adept at performing, folk, country western, rock and roll, and classical music, and has been known to incorporate jokes as well as a funny hat or two into his performances.

Siebert started playing guitar when just five years old. He was so captivated by the sound of his dad’s J160 Gibson acoustic guitar, he would sneak it out of the case while dad was at work. Listening to old record albums, he reproduced the sounds on the guitar and was self-taught until the age of twelve when he began studying classical guitar. Siebert joined his first band at fourteen and played in a variety of groups throughout high school and college. After college, he worked as a manufacturing engineer in the family business until his youngest child entered high school and he felt the time was right to pursue his passion for music. “Music has always been at my heart,” says Siebert, “so I spent years building my music career, until I was finally making better money at it than at my full-time job.”

Traveling from his home in Lincoln, Nebraska, Siebert started touring in 2004. He currently performs over 400 shows per year, and is a regular at over 200 senior living facilities in the five state area. Siebert has recorded several CDs, is a touring artist with the Nebraska Arts Council and Nebraska Humanities programs, and is a regular living history re-enactor at the Stuhr Museum in Grand Island and the Fort Atkinson Museum in Ft. Calhoun. While in Sidney, Siebert will perform three shows on March 14th – a 10 a.m. program for students at West Elementary, a 2 p.m. performance for seniors at Sloan Estates, and a 7 p.m. concert for the public at the High School Performing Arts Center.

The High Plains Arts Council is bringing Paul Siebert to Sidney as part of their 2023-2024 season. Tickets for his evening concert are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for students (including WNCC), and children under 5 are free. They will be available at the door.
