Big Cheese: Savor & Grace Future Looking "Grate"

What was brainstormed over a cheeseboard and a bottle of wine with a friend has aged into fine and flavorful fruition. Jill Sauder, owner of Savor & Grace in Sidney, has brought a combination of nostalgic "lunchable" charm, and healthy - but fun - clean eating to life.

Originally situated on the edge of town, Sauder has now transitioned towards her new downtown location at 824 10th Avenue. The move was inspired by the need to expand; with new ideas facing the forefront and a growing clientele, the change only seemed necessary.

A local, from just over the Colorado border, Sauder is a proud single mother to young cheese-monger in training, Zaire; the duo moved to Sidney following Sauder's redirection of careers during the height of Covid. Craving the interaction of community, Sauder redirected her path, from business coach to business owner. At the core of this metamorphosis stood the principle that "creating a space creates togetherness," Sauder states, and so the wheels of change began to turn.

With a plan of action now on the table, Sauder had several key decisions to make, the most important being the continuation of homeschooling for Zaire and her transparency in the makes and breaks of S&G's entrepreneurial goals. "He's been by my side through the entire process. I wanted him to see how hard it is and hear all the 'no's' so he could be by my side for the 'win's' too," Sauder says.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, quick on his feet, Zaire invented the cheesy but catchy S&G motto: "How can we guide your tastebuds today?" Not afraid to dabble in the kitchen, Zaire has also created his own specialty, Zaire's Zesty Zalad, a combination of fresh greens topped with shredded rotisserie chicken, sprouts, green onion, cheese, everything bagel cashews and a special house dressing of his own creation. Zaire truly believes in bringing only the best ideas to the dinner table.

The standard S&G exudes is noticeable not only in their product, but down to the details as well. A sprig of rosemary sits in the center of their logo, another representation of the freshness and quality they present. With a small but eager staff and an ever-developing menu, Sauder has big plans for the future. "It takes a village – this town, my family, these people. I would not be able to do it without the support of all of you," Sauder reiterates.

Savor & Grace will be celebrating their first birthday at the new location March 11 at 11 am, to which the public is warmly welcomed to attend.
