Jean A. Aurich, age 95 of Sidney, NE was called by her Lord and Savior Jesus into heaven on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Sidney Regional Medical Center, Sidney, NE. A Funeral Service was held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Potter, NE with Pastor Ted Bourret officiating. Burial was held at 2:00 P.M. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, NE. Services were recorded and are available on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Facebook page. Memorials have been established to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 4450 Road 89, Potter, NE 69156.

Jean was born on a farm near Oakland, NE June 13, 1928 to Arthur and Anna (Luecking) Groppe. At the age of four the Groppe family moved to a farm north of Sidney. Jean became a baptized child of God July 1, 1928 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lyons, NE. She attended grades 1-8 at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Sidney. Jean was confirmed in the faith by Rev. H. F. Krohn at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sidney. In her junior year her family moved into town. In 1946 she graduated from Sidney High School.

Jean attended Central Business College in Denver, CO where she received a business diploma. She worked at Sioux Ordnance Depot as a clerk steno in the Safety and Security Department for two years (1947-1949).

How did Jean and Edgar meet? The summer of 1945 when Edgar's dad's crop was hailed out, Jean's dad knew Edgar would be available and hired him. She was joined in marriage to Edgar Aurich at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sidney, NE on August 21, 1949. First, they lived on a farm northeast of Potter, and in 1957, they moved to a farm west of Potter.

Jean was married for 66 years. She was a homemaker on their dairy farm, canning and freezing garden produce each summer. She helped Edgar keep the barn clean in compliance with Grade A regulations. She enjoyed family, quilting, and watching birds. Her hobbies included genealogy, sewing, making quilt tops for Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) and daily walks with the family dog in the scenic hills.

Jean was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Potter, NE where she had been an active member. Jean held many offices and served on many committees in LWML.

Jean & Edgar were blessed by their Lord with four children, Donna, Dale, Colleen and Allen. Also blessed with 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include Donna (Dan) Boyd of St. Louis, MO, granddaughter Sarah (Jason) Walker of South Bend, IN and their daughter Alex Walker; grandson Paul (Christine) Boyd of Independence, KY and his step-children Robert (Angel) Bambuch and Caitlyn Bambuch; granddaughter Rachel (Trevor) Beach of Florissant, MO and their children Madalyn, Eugene and Lillian; Dale (Donna) Aurich of Wheatland, WY, grandson Brian (Rachel) of Omaha and their daughters Kiley and Kahlen; grandson Scott (Megan) Aurich of Wheatland and their children Delaney, Blake and Lucas; Colleen (Reinold) Kruse of Deshler, NE and son Kevin (Kaitlyn) Kruse and their sons River and Ryder; Allen (Deanna) Aurich of Sidney, NE, granddaughter Samantha (Matthew) Sinclair of Lincoln, NE and their children Sawyer, Ava and Hudson, and grandson Dane Aurich of Sidney, NE and Ryan of

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, and sister Jeanette Geller-Pritts.
