BOYS It looks like the warm weather agrees with many of the athletes on the Sidney boys track team. Four Raiders including Logan Lewis, Lucas Rosenbaum, Nick Conger and Brendan Holly broke or tied career bests at the Western Conference Track Meet at Bulldog Stadium in Alliance on Saturday. Paxton Ehler and the Rocky Mountain Fever faced fierce competition at the Mile High Classic over the weekend, as basketball teams from states as far away as Tennessee and Washington converged on Denver. The Fever struggled to a 1-3 mark for the tournament, although Kimball’s Mike Daum played a solid four games and Sidney’s Ehler found his touch in the late going. The Sidney Raiders golf team placed second of six teams in a match held at Ridgeview Country Club in Chadron last Thursday. Scottsbluff took top honors with a combined score of 314 while Sidney’s score of 346 was one stroke better than host Chadron. The Raiders were led by senior Taylor Barton with an 80, while freshman Ryan Birner came in at 84. The American Farm Bureau Federation recently released its proposal for the stalled Farm Bill. The plan, which looks to save $23 billion in farm program spending, would create a new safety net for U.S. farmers. GERING (AP) — A 39-year-old Scottsbluff man has been given five to eight years in prison for stabbing the husband of his former wife in a dispute over a vehicle. Herman Torres was sentenced Monday in Scotts Bluff County District Court. Court records say he stabbed 35-year-old Jason Lewison, of Scottsbluff, in January.
