    Hank Elias, 86 of Sidney, passed away at his home Friday evening, July 11, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 17th with a Wake Service at 6 p.m., Wednesday evening July 16th. Both services will be in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Jim Heithoff officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.     Marian R. Hernandez, 79 of Sidney, passed away peacefully at her home Monday morning, June 23, 2014. Marian was born on July 16, 1934 in Sidney to the late Raymond Portz and Bernice Miller. A Memorial Mass will be held for Marian at St. Patrick's Church in Sidney on Wed., July 16th at 3 p.m. Eulogies and a Toast to Marian will be held at The Hampton Inn in Sidney and will be after the Mass.     With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, first baseman Zack Means looped a walk-off single into left field that landed just inside the line and the Sidney Junior Post 17 team took home a 10-9 win its opening district game against Ogallala Post 135 Saturday afternoon in Chadron.     The Sidney Post 17 junior team took a 2-0 lead against Gering in the first inning of its district elimination game Sunday night, but was unable to hold on in a 6-3 loss. The junior team struggled to slow what seemed like an unending steam of Gering baser runners throughout the game and is now eliminated from the district tournament.
