    A child abuse pediatrician who headed the team that worked to determine the cause of the alleged victim’s injuries testified during day four of the State of Nebraska vs. Nancy Gipfert. Gipfert is charged with one count of child abuse causing serious bodily injury, a felony for her part in the incidences allegedly causing the two-month-old baby’s seizures and brain injuries in Sept. 2011.   • County considers, approves emergency communications upgrades

    At the Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners meeting on Monday, the body approved a Government Leasing Contract for Motorola MIP5000 Console System. The console is intended for use by the Cheyenne County Emergency Communications Center. The Communications Center board earlier took votes on purchasing or leasing the new system. Purchasing would come to a total of $74,000, with installation included. The equipment could also be leased for up to five years and paid either monthly or in installments.   • Holiday Enforcement Message: Buckle Up

    The Nebraska State Patrol will join law enforcement agencies across the nation in a Thanksgiving holiday campaign designed to save lives by enforcing seat belt usage. Beginning Monday, Nov. 25, through Sunday, Dec. 1, troopers and communication specialists will put in extra hours as part of the “Click It or Ticket” enforcement campaign.     Phyllis Jo (Phid) Groshart Shunk 1923 to 2013 Phyllis Jo (Phid) Groshart Shunk -- lover of poetry, theater, and literature -- died Sunday, Nov. 17, just six days after her beloved husband Delwyn (Del) E.
