Arraignments complete for drug arrestees

The second of two Ames, Iowa individuals arrested earlier this week on drug-related charges was arraigned Thursday before Cheyenne County Judge Randin Roland.

Jessica Carroll, 31, appeared for arraignment on five felony charges: two Class III felony counts of possession with intent to deliver (both marijuana and hashish), Class IV felony possession of marijuana (more than a pound), Class IV felony possession of marijuana without tax stamps, and Class IV possession of a controlled substance (cyclobenzaprine).

A status hearing for Carroll, who informed the court she would like to retain an attorney, was set for Jan. 16 at 9:30 a.m.

Carroll’s bond was set at $100,000, or 10 percent.

Carroll’s alleged accomplice, Benjamin Schneider, 21, was arraigned Wednesday, on his charges. The counts against Schneider are the same, except for the controlled substance charge.

Roland also set Schneider’s status hearing for Jan. 16, at 9 a.m., and Schneider’s bond was also set at $100,000 or 10 percent.

Both remained in Cheyenne County Jail this morning. The two were arrested following a Tuesday afternoon traffic stop by Nebraska State Patrol. During a search of the vehicle, authorities confiscated packaged marijuana (about 3.4 pounds) and hashish (around an ounce).
