Final weekend for Cheyenne County Community Center survey

This weekend will be the last opportunity that Cheyenne County residents have a chance to make their voice heard regarding possible changes to the Cheyenne County Community Center, according to community center staff.

Staff had put an assessment survey up online on the community center’s website during the first week of January and will be closing the survey link upon the opening of the center Monday morning at about 8 a.m.

The community center board decided to create this survey to collect information from county residents regarding whether or not the center facility was meeting the needs of the public and if anything could be changed about the center to provide better service to the community, according to center director Michael Namuth.

Ideas developed from public input will help create a vision statement for the center for the next 3 to 5 years, he said.

Three different surveys are being distributed. One type of survey is designed for members of the facility, while another type is created for non-members that sometimes come in to the community center and pay a daily fee to use it rather than buying a membership.

The last type of survey is designed for community members who have never visited the center.

Questions regarding what the public would like to see included with the new swimming pool to be built in Sidney were also included in the survey.

Though most of the surveys are being conducted online, there are some paper surveys available for residents without computer access and are available upon request at the community center.

This is the first time that a survey has been offered to the public since the community center’s initial opening to reevaluate what the community center might need to improve on, Namuth said.

“We’ve been around for twenty years now so we figured it’s probably time to see what direction people want us to move in,” he said. “It’s going to give us a vision of the next five years and what we need to do as far as facility wise.”
