Robb sets new standard; SHS girls win Ed Moore

OGALLALA — Sidney High School’s girls track team picked up six first-place performances — including Kali Robb breaking her own school record in the discus — and four second places en route to winning the team title at Thursday afternoon’s Ed Moore Invitational, while the boys finished third as a team.

Sidney finished first in the girls team standing with 116 points, while the boys were third behind Cozad at 68 points.

Robb, who already owned the SHS mark of 129 feet, 10 inches, smashed that record with a first-place throw of 135-8. Senior hurdler Karissa Segelke swept the 100-meter high and 300-meter intermediates, winning both events handily. Morgan Linneman experimented with an extremely tough middle-distance double; she won the 400 meters in a fine 59.9 seconds, then ran second in the 800.

Also winning were Alli Jay Ehler in the 3,200 meters — coming back and running second in the 1,600 — and the 4 x 1 relay of Linneman, Segelke, Sarah Mahr and Kali Robb.

In addition to Ehler and Linneman running second, Robb was runnerup in the shot put, as were Kylee Price in the long jump and Savanna Rosenbaum in the high jump.

The Raiders boys didn’t win an event but managed second places from Logan Lewis in the 100-meter dash, Nick Conger (high jump) and the 4 x 4 relay of Lucas Rosenbaum, Hayden Linnemann, Michael Muggli and Lewis.

Third places were earned by Lewis (200), Jachob Wiedeburg (1,600 run), Lucas Rosenbaum (pole vault) and the 4 x 8 relay of Brenner Keane, Logan Uhlir, Domingo Blume and Linnemann.

Sidney runs Tuesday in the Mitchell Secondary Invitational.
