Katherine "Kate" S. (Sanford) Becker

1949 to 2015

Katherine "Kate" S. (Sanford) Becker, 65 of Brighton, Colo., passed away on Jan. 25, 2015 in Sidney.

Kate was born to Marvin and Mintra Sanford on May 29, 1949 in North Platte. She graduated from North Platte Senior High in 1967 and married Timothy J. Kincaid in 1969.

Kate graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland with a degree in accounting, as well as Creighton University School of Law. She was a practicing attorney and CPA with a focus on taxation and business law. She worked for Deloitte & Touche, Internorth, Inc., Quest and Union Pacific Railroad in the tax department, ultimately becoming a sole practitioner.

Kate lived in Cleveland, OH, Bethesda, Md., New York City, NY, Omaha and Brighton, Colo. She was on the City of Brighton Housing Authority Board and was certified as a First Responder for the City of Brighton. She was an accomplished artist, focused on abstract oil painting. She was a Master Composter certified by the City of Denver and enjoyed organic gardening. Kate enjoyed fly fishing and hiking in her beloved Rocky Mountains, as well as travelling the world, having travelled to England, Scotland, France, Germany, Italy, China, Japan, India and Cambodia.

Kate is preceded in death by her Mother, Mintra Sanford. She is survived by her father, Marvin Sanford; daughter, Elizabeth Kincaid and granddaughter, Anna both of Painesville, OH; two sisters, Sherri Hausmann of Sidney, and Marianne Barrett of Peoria, Ariz.; a brother, Stephen Sanford, of North Platte; numerous niece, nephews and friends.

A celebration of Kate's life will be held June 6, 2015 at Mount Falcon Park in Morrison, Colo. Friends and family are invited to meet at the top parking lot off Mount Falcon Road at 1 p.m.

The family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff and volunteers at the hospice department of Sidney Regional Medical Center.
