Sidney volleyball tops Scottsbluff

Potter-Dix wins pair at Bayard Triangular

The Sidney High School volleyball team pushed its record back to the .500 mark with a key win on the road at Scottsbluff on Tuesday night.

The Lady Raiders improved to 7-7 this year, while Scottsbluff slipped to 4-9.

Sidney won the match in four sets after dropping the opening stanza. It posted a 22-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-9 victory.

Sidney received strong efforts from Annalise Lecher, Payton Jung and Maddi Porter, who all turned in double-digit kills. Lecher and Jung had 14 apiece, while Porter added 13.

Lecher and Jung each provided four blocks and teammate Kelsey Knight chipped in three.

Knight also had 18 digs and Abbey Mills contributed 14. Porter chipped in 10 digs.

Sidney setter Emily Mahr doled out 38 assists and had seven digs.

The Lady Raiders are back in action this weekend in the 12-team Twin City Invitational being held at Gering- and Scottsbluff-area schools.

Sidney will open play on Friday at 4 p.m. with pool play games against Alliance, Grand Island Northwest and Cheyenne (Wyo.) Central. All of those matches will be played at Bluffs Midle School.

The top eight seeds will advance to bracket play at the two high schools on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. The championship game is slated for 2 p.m. at Scottsbluff High School.

The bottom four seeds will play a round-robin event at Bluffs Middle School starting at 9 a.m.

Potter-Dix wins pair

at Bayard Triangular

The Potter-Dix High volleyball team picked up two more wins Tuesday at Bayard.

The Lady Coyotes defeated South Platte in straight sets 25-16, 25-20. Later, they topped Bayard in two sets 25-17, 25-17.

No other statistics from the matches were reported.

Potter-Dix improved to 11-2.

The Lady Coyotes are back in action Thursday when they travel to Chappell to square off against Creek Valley at 5 p.m.
