Sidney golfers earn spot in state tourney

Raiders' Blauert takes 4th at districts

The Sidney High girls' golf team is headed back to the state tournament after finishing third on Monday in the Class B District 4 at Monument Shadows Golf Club in Gering.

The Lady Raiders shot a team score of 384. That left them behind team champion and defending Class B state champion Scottsbluff (349) and McCook (381).

Sidney will compete for the Class B state title on Oct. 12-13 at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus.

Rachel Blauert recorded Sidney's top score, carding a round of 86 to finish fourth overall.

Teammates Megan Neal and Taylor Parsons each shot rounds of 98, while Emma Alexander rounded out the team score with a 102.

The top three teams and top 10 individuals qualify for the state tournament.

Scottsbluff's Hannah Holloway shot a 79 to win medalist honors. Her teammate, Shelby Poynter, was second with an 80.
