Haxtun sweeps pair from Leyton

Haxtun took a pair of basketball games Tuesday night at Leyton. The homestanding Warriors fell in both the boys and girls games.

Boys basketball

Leyton held the lead at the half, before falling to visiting Haxtun, 56-43, on Tuesday night.

The Warriors (3-4) held a 22-20 advantage at the break before being outscored 36-21 in the second half.

Game statistics were not available at press time.

Leyton is back in action Saturday with a home game against Hay Springs.

Girls basketball

Unbeaten Haxtun jumped out to the early lead and rolled to a 65-14 win Tuesday night at Leyton.

Haxtun (6-0) led 15-4 after the first quarter and 29-8 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Warriors (5-2) 36-6 in the second half.

Abbe Draper and Diedra Waite scored four points each to lead Leyton offensively, while Taylor Berner, Bailey Miller and Marian Draper each added two points. Waite also led the team with eight rebounds.

Leyton returns to action Saturday with a 1 p.m. home contest against Hay Springs.
