Cheyenne County Fair impresses commissioners

Cheyenne County Commissioners held their regular meeting Monday, to review the 2016 Cheyenne County Fair..

Fair Board member Anita Pennel gave the 2016 Cheyenne County Fair Report. “Our fair this year went really well,” Pennel said.

Pennel laid out 2016 fair expenses, budget, ticket sales and income for the commissioners, coming out with a positive grand total of $54,826.53.

“Good report,” said Commissioner Darrell Johnson with Commissioner Philip Sanders adding that he was “impressed” with report.

Pennel said maintenance on the fairgrounds will continue through out the year and next year Sun Valley will again hold the carnival.

Next year the Fair Board is talking about the possibility having a family day Pennel said, with some type of family geared games or contests.

Pennel said the Fair Board would like to hear suggestion from the public on the possible event.

Also in the meeting, Commissioners approved multiple reservation requests for the use of the Cheyenne County Pavilion building, as well as a road update by Highway Supervisor Doug Hart.

County Treasurer Diane Scott presented matured Cheyenne County Tax Sales Certificates for turn over to County Attorney Paul Schaub.

In the meeting Commissioners held a public hearing and approved the 2016-17 Cheyenne County Budget, in a two for and one against vote.

Commissioners then went into executive session.

The next Cheyenne County Board meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 3 at 8 a.m. in the commissioners meeting room located in the Cheyenne County Court House.
