Brooke Elizabeth McRoberts - Obituary

Brooke Elizabeth McRoberts, 44, loving daughter, fiancé, aunt, niece, godmother, and friend, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017. She was born in Logan, Utah on April 27, 1972, to Barbara and Jerry McRoberts. She grew up in Gurley, Nebraska on her family’s game farm, where she helped raise a variety of unique and exotic animals. In addition to being the class valedictorian, Brooke was a talented athlete who competed in volleyball, basketball, and track. She received her Bachelor’s degree in pre-med at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, graduating Summa Cum Laude, where she was also a member of the Scarlet and Cream University Choir.

Brooke always had a genuine love of music and singing. She moved to New York City in 1994, where she performed for many years in a variety of Off-Broadway shows as a professional in the Actors Equity Association. She also performed for Royal Caribbean as well as sang at a variety of venues all around the world during her travels. She was a talented song writer and accomplished her lifelong dream when she released her CD “Listen” in 2014. Brooke was a dedicated member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New York City for 17 years, where she led the Sunday evening choir with her angelic voice. She was extremely spiritual and had a deep passion for energy healing. Brooke loved to travel and vacation with family and friends, and cherished all the memories she made along the way. She moved to San Francisco in 2011, where she enjoyed all that Northern California had to offer and later moved to Albuquerque in 2014 to be with the love of her life.

Brooke is survived by her mother, Barbara McRoberts, and fiancé, Christian Gordon (with his children Rachel and Jacob). In addition, she was survived by her loving family members: Mario Coronado (wife Mari, children Maca and Alma), aunts and uncles, Mary Jo and Tom Luby, Michael and Maggie McGowan, Geraldine and Doug Frost, Wayne and Heather McRoberts, and Julie and Craig Wilson; as well as her cousins, Christine Brown, Steven Luby (wife Amy), Jeff Luby (wife Faith), John McGowan (wife Stacy), Stacy Richards (husband Chris), Kirsten Harris (husband Justin), Tiffany Stalder (husband Zach), Keenan McRoberts (wife Jaci), Carmen Anderson (husband Ryan), Jarod Wilson (husband Mike), and Brett Wilson (wife Michelle). Her Godchildren Aiden Luby, Brooklyn Richards, and Julia Luby held a special place in her heart, as did all of her other beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry McRoberts, her aunt, Cathie McRoberts, as well as her grandparents, John and Genevieve McGowan and Kenneth and Eula McRoberts.

Cremation will be conducted in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Park Chapel. A Catholic Mass will be held in New York City, New York, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11:00am, followed by a Rosary and Celebration of Life to be held at 6:00pm in Omaha, Nebraska on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 654 South 86th St., Omaha, NE 68114.

In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe Account has been set up to fund the Brooke McRoberts Foundation for Depression and Anxiety Disorder.
