Sidney golfers place third in Conference

The Sidney girls golf team finished fourth in a field of nine teams at the Gering Invitational Meet Friday.

Sidney finished with a team score of 401, trailing a close field of Ogallala with a score of 400, McCook with 387 and North Platte at 381.

Sidney's Emma Alexander finished in third with a score of 87. Bailey Steele of North Platte came in first with a 79, followed by Abigail Cornelius of Cozad with an 86.

Also scoring for Sidney were Paige Langley with a 105, Tiara Ginther with a 101, Dru Rowan with a 106 and Janay Brauer with a 111. Alexander had 44 strokes on the front nine and 43 on the back nine, Langley had 56 strokes on the front nine and 49 on the back nine, Ginther had 53 strokes on the front nine and 48 on the back nine, Rowan had 60 strokes on the front nine and 48 on the back, and Brauer had 56 on the front nine and 55 on the back nine.

The Red Raiders also competed at Chadron Tuesday, Sept. 5, and Mitchell on Thursday, Sept. 7.

Emma Alexander placed third in Chadron with a score of 80.

As a team, Sidney trailed a two-hole sudden death playoff with team scores of 374. The playoff resulted in Gering edging Scottsbluff for first place, Scottsbluff second and Sidney third with 382. Chadron came in fourth

with a 401.

The Lady Raiders continued their success Tuesday at the Western Conference/Chadron Invite Tournament.

Alexander fired her way to third place with an 80, while Cook was eighth with a 94, leading Sidney to a third place team finish.

The medal finishes were the same for the Chadron Invite.

Gering closed the day with the Western Conference title, winning after a two-hole playoff with Scottsbluff.

Sidney's Janay Brauer and Paige Langley finished the day with 104 on their card, while Amanda Breir had a 112.
